The Wedgwood Museum Trust

Archive Project

The Wedgwood Museum Trust received Designated status for its outstanding collections. Of these one of the most important aspects is the accumulation of pattern books, factory documents and manuscripts. These cover the period 1759 to today, and are a unique record of the design history of the ceramic industry reflecting the changing styles over three centuries.

The Wedgwood Museum Trust through the generous sponsorship of Resource and the Designation Challenge Fund has commenced on a major digitilisation project to photograph all the pattern books and ultimately include much of this material on these website pages.

Obviously this project will be on-going over many years as there are 680 pattern books to image, many of which contain several hundred designs.
