In 1984, Shape 225 was commissioned by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Limited in order to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the founding of the Wedgwood firm, 1759 - 1984. Jerome Gould of the international design studio Gould & Associates was selected to undertake the work. Gould appointed Thomas William Kellogg, Vice President of Product Development to come up with a design, he created shape 225. A number of patterns appeared on the finely contoured, flowing lines of Shape 225 - these included Clouds, Serenity, Nectar, Tranquillity and Selene. Shape 225 was also produced in Black Basalt, which was partially glazed to enhance the flowing lines of the forms.

His work for Wedgwood was during his time at the industrial design and packaging firm of Gould & Associates where he was Vice President of Product Development.
