Sunlight on the Ocean cup and saucer - 1959
Special commissions have long been a useful source of income, prestige and exposure for the Wedgwood firm. The growth of 'hotelware' especially allied Wedgwood's name to the most prestigious of venues. In the post-war years the company received a number of such orders for cruise and shipping lines. This design, Sunlight on the Ocean, by Robert Goodden, was created especially for the Orient Line, now part of P&O.
