Josiah Wedgwood III (1795-1880)

Known as 'Joe' Josiah III joined his father, Josiah II in partnership at the Etruria works between 1823 and 1841. His marriage to Caroline Darwin in 1837 was the first of two Wedgwood/Darwin marriages in the same generation – his sister Emma marrying Caroline's brother Charles. Caroline and Joe made their home at Leith Hill Place in Surrey and had three daughters. One of these, Margaret, became the mother of the great English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams.
