Lucie Wedgwood (née Gibson) (1864-1939)

 

Lucie Gibson was born and educated in Cork. She married Cecil Wedgwood in 1888, with whom she had two daughters. Lucie became one of the first appointed women magistrates, and she was also the first Mayoress of the County Borough of Stoke-on-Trent. She was made an Honorary Freeman of the City of Stoke-on-Trent in 1930, being the first woman to receive this honour.
