The second generation

This chapter includes biographies of Josiah Wedwood II, John Wedgwood, Sukey Wedgwood, Robert Darwin , Tom Wedgwood and Mary Anne Wedgwood.

Josiah II became the first MP for Stoke-on-Trent, whilst John founded the Royal Horticultural Society.

Sukey Wedgwood - the oldest of Josiah I and Sarah's children - married Robert Waring Darwin (the son of Erasmus), and was the mother of the great naturalist, Charles Darwin.

Tom Wedgwood is renowned as one of the pioneering inventors of photography.

Mary Ann was the youngest child of Josiah and Sarah, who had a number of disabilities and died aged just eight years old.
